Bastien et Bastienne

The young Mozart wrote "Bastien et Bastienne" at the age of twelve, already showing his genius in this work overflowing with charm and subtlety. At the crossroads of the baroque and the classical, the work is resolutely turned towards a new conception of opera. The simple melodies, far from any vocal virtuosity, are easily remembered and song alternates with spoken passages. Diggi, daggi, shurry, murry, horum, harum ...: with this magic spell, the fickle young shepherd Bastien will succeed in winning back the heart of his dear shepherdess Bastienne. In Mirabelle Ordinaire’s production, the action is transposed to a contemporary fun fair. Performed in a French version, faithful to Mozart’s sensitivity, the opera is adapted to be immediately comprehensible to all audiences.
