First, make sure to check where your performance is taking place: the Paris Opera has two theatre houses, the Palais Garnier and the Bastille Opera.

Below you will find practical information about the Bastille Opera.

As part of the Vigipirate security alert system, the access to the Paris Opera’s venues is subject to a close control and personal belongings checking, in particular with secure portal systems.

The following objects are not allowed in our theatres’ auditoriums and cloakrooms:

  • Luggage and travel bags
  • Motorised and Non-motorised Personal Mobility Devices (except for PRMs)
  • Glass bottles
  • U-locks and large chains
  • Weapons and ammunition of all categories, small pocket knives, tools, any blunt object or any object that can be used as a weapon,
  • Aerosol Dispensers, teargas, inflammable or volatile substances, etc...

Bicycle batteries are accepted on the sole condition that they are deposited in the fireproof lockers located in the hall opposite the boutique.

Guided tours: The meeting point with the tour guide is located at 120 rue de Lyon, 75012 Paris, at the entrance for artists and staff of the Bastille Opera.

To come in our theatre venues, opt for sustainable modes of transport.

Box office: from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm, from Tuesday to Saturday (except on bank holidays). On the booking opening days, box office opens at noon.

Visits: Please arrive 10 minutes before the visit time. Tours begin at the exact time indicated on your ticket. Latecomers will not be permitted after the departure of the visit. Tickets are not returned nor exchanged.

Performances: The performance always starts at the exact time indicated on the website and your ticket. In regard to the safety checks and layout of our premises, we strongly advise our spectators to arrive at least 45 minutes before the beginning of the performance.

Out of respect for the audience and the artists, latecomers will have to wait until the intermission to be admitted into the auditorium. The doors into the theatre building will be closed 15 minutes after the start of the performance.

• Interval bars: you can pre-book online up to 24 hours before your performance on bars-operadeparis.fr; booking on site also available before the performance for the interval time.

• Cloakroom: free cloakrooms are available during the performances.

• Performance programmes: available on-site in the public spaces on the day of your performance, in the library-shops and in the box office.
