Andrzej Filończyk Baritone

Biography

Andrzej Filończyk studied at the Music Academy of Wrocław under Bogan Makal, the Polish National Opera in Warsaw, and the Zurich Opera Studio. He took part in numerous national and international competitions, including the 2014 Bohuslav Martinů International Competition in Prague (First Prize for Best performance of the 20th century melodies and Czech Radio Award), and the Moniuszko Competition (First prize for the best polish voice, Prize for youngest finalist).

He made his operatic debut in 2015 as Tonio (Pagliacci) at the Poznań Grand Theater. The next year, he sang the title-role in Eugene Onegin on the same stage. He performed in La Bohème (Schaunard) at Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Pagliacci (Silvio) at Teatro Regio in Turin and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, The Barber of Seville (Figaro) at the Zurich Opernhaus and the Bolshoi in Moscow, Lucrezia Borgia (Gubetta) at the Salzburg Festival, Maria Stuarda (Lord Cecil) in Zurich, La Bohème (Marcello) at the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, The Dead City (Frank / Fritz) at Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Le Nozze di Figaro (Count Almaviva) at Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia, I Puritani (Riccardo) at the Frankfurt Opera, the title-role in Don Giovanni at the Dresden Semperoper.

More recently, he starred in La Bohème (Marcello) in Naples, Madrid and Berlin, The Barber of Seville (Figaro) at Teatre Principal Maó and Royal Opera House, Lucia di Lammermoor (Enrico Ashton) at Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Don Pasquale (Docteur Malatesta) at Royal Opera House and Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, L’elisir d’amore (Belcore) at the Chorégies d’Orange, Count Ory (Raimbaud) in Pesaro and I Puritani (Riccardo Forth) in Bilbao.
