Report from the 6 October 2026
The Opera in French Guiana – October 2026
The Opera in French Guiana enters its final season in 2026/27, with two sessions once again planned: the first, in October 2026, will focus on dance, featuring Étoiles Dorothée Gilbert, Alice Renavand, Stéphane Bullion and Mathieu Ganio; the second, in April 2027, will focus on opera singing, with artists from the Paris Opera Academy’s residency programme.
The Paris Opera will continue to maintain close ties with cultural organisations in French Guiana, particularly the Conservatoire de Musique, Danse et Théâtre de Guyane (CMDTG), with which new collaborations will be developed.
Since its creation, the Opera in French Guiana programme has been built around close territorial cultural cooperation, with the aim of making the Paris Opera’s missions accessible across the entire region. Now entering its fifth and final season, the programme reflects long-standing work with numerous partners in Cayenne, Rémire-Montjoly, Matoury, Kourou, Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni, Maripasoula, Papaïchton and, more recently, Camopi.
The first session will feature a dance performance, Une nuit dansée à l’Opéra, on 21, 22 and 23 October at Les Trois Fleuves in Cayenne, with Étoiles Dorothée Gilbert, Alice Renavand, Stéphane Bullion and Mathieu Ganio. Alongside the performance, classical dance workshops led by Étoiles Alice Renavand and Stéphane Bullion, contemporary dance workshops with Marion Gautier de Charnacé, and choral singing workshops with Morgan Jourdain will take place from Saturday 24 to Thursday 29 October in Cayenne, Kourou, Rémire-Montjoly and Matoury.
The second and final session, in April 2027, will be dedicated to opera singing. It will bring together artists from the Paris Opera Academy’s residency programme for a concert centred on Mozart’s Così fan tutte, as well as violin workshops led by Elisabeth Pallas, a member of the Paris Opera Orchestra.
