  • Kurt Weill Workshop in the Amphithéâtre Bastille

    On June 30, 2016 at 8 pm, the second workshop of the season will be dedicated to Kurt Weill. As part of her residence at the Paris Opera Academy, stage director Mirabelle Ordinaire offers an artistic programme around the German composer and explores some of his most beautiful works with the help of the Academy’s singers, vocal coaches, choreographers and musicians.

  • The Paris Opera Ballet School’s Summer Tour in Hamburg

    From June 29 to July 05, 2016, four students from the Paris Opera Ballet School have been invited to Hamburg for a gala celebrating the 20 years of Yondering, the ballet created by John Neumeier in 1996 and danced exclusively by schools, particularly the Paris Opera’s Ballet School. To mark the occasion, Marianne Kruuse, former Director of the Hamburg Ballett’s Ballet School, honoured the Paris Opera Ballet School with a visit during the week of May 09, 2016 where she attended several rehearsals of the performance.
  • The Opéra national de Paris' 3e Scène distinguished

    On June 27, 2016, the Club des Directeurs Artistiques awarded the Opéra national de Paris with the "Prix de l’annonceur de l’Année", in recognition of its restyled visual identity and the launch of its 3e Scène. This digital artistic platform is devoted to presenting original works created by film directors, visual artists, writers and photographers."It is important to underline this fundamental change of direction by the venerable French institution", points out Jean-François Porchez, member of the Club's bureau.

  • A new Étoile at the Palais Garnier

    Shiori Kase, First dancer with the English National Ballet, was promoted to Principal dancer after the final performance of the ballet Le Corsaire at the Palais Garnier on June 25, 2016. She had been dancing the role of Gulnare along with the company which was performing for the first time at the Opéra national de Paris. This fairytale evening celebrates a magnificent career rich in promise.

  • Fête de la Musique 2016 at the Paris Opera

    On the occasion of the Fête de la Musique, the Opéra national de Paris is organising an exceptional lyric concert at the Opéra Bastille on June 02, 2016 at 8 pm. The Opera's Orchestra and Chorus, along with several soloists (Aleksandrs Antonenko, Anita Rachvelishvili, Sondra Radvanovsky) will be performing famous arias from the vocal repertoire, ranging from Verdi to Puccini via Bizet and Saint-Saëns under the baton of Music Director Philippe Jordan.   • The Paris Opera Orchestra to perform Wagner in Toulouse

    The Paris Opera Orchestra is performing in Toulouse for the first time and will offer audiences an exhilarating journey through the finest excerpts from the Ring Cycle. In 2010 and 2011, the Orchestra’s musical director Philippe Jordan gave the first ever performance of the Ring at the Opéra Bastille and the first complete Ring Cycle at the Paris Opera in over half a century. From the spellbinding “Prelude” of Das Rheingold to the breakneck “Ride of the Valkyries”, Paris audiences will also have a chance to see the concert at the Opéra Bastille in the autumn of 2016.
