The lyric gala Anthony Roth Costanzo is a theatre experience that combines opera, art, dance, film, and fashion.
Countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo performs ten pieces of music by Philip Glass and George Frideric Handel accompanied by the Opera de Paris Orchestra conducted by Karen Kamensek on stage.
During the concert, painter Glenn Brown creates an artwork live. Five dancers take turns interpreting choreography by Pam Tanowitz. Between arias, the audience listens to soundscapes by artist Sabisha Friedberg.
The backdrop features 10 videos commissioned by Visionaire: James Ivory & Pix Talarico, Mark Romanek & Myles Yachts, Tilda Swinton & Sandro Kopp, Jacolby Satterwhite, James Kaliardos & Marisa Tomei, Daniel Askill, Pierpaolo Ferrari & Maurizio Cattelan of Toiletpaper Magazine, Rupert Sanders, AES+F, Mickalene Thomas. The costumes are by Raf Simons.
