Beginning on May 24, 2016, the Teatro Real in Madrid is hosting a series of performances of Schönberg’s extraordinary Moses und Aron, an opera staged by Romeo Castellucci and performed at the Paris Opera for the opening of its 2015/2016 season.
From May 23 to May 25, 2016, the Paris Opera Ballet School is delighted to welcome Aaron Watkin, Director of the Dresden Semperoper Ballet, for several sessions dedicated to the preparation of a choreographic work by William Forsythe. The fruit of this encounter will be presented by the School’s students in April 2017, at the Paris Opera Ballet School’s annual performance.

At 12 pm on May 22, 2016 at the Palais Garnier, the musicians of the Paris Opera Orchestra will introduce young and old alike to the wonderful creatures of Ravel’s Ma mère l’Oye and Saint-Saëns’ Carnaval des animaux. These tender and humorous works are narrated by the talented actor Michel Vuillermoz from the Comédie-Française.

Due to family reasons, Sonya Yoncheva is unable to perform the role of Violetta in La Traviata on May 20, 23 and 26, 2016.
She will be replaced by Maria Agresta.

On May 17, 2016, the dancer Hannah O’Neill won the prize for the Best Dancer at the 2016 Benois de la Danse. During the gala, held at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, the Première Danseuse from the Paris Opera's Corps de Ballet was honoured for her performance of an extract from Pierre Lacotte’s ballet Paquita.
In this new production by Calixto Bieito, the role of the Fool will be performed by Ernst Alisch, replacing Kathrin Wehlisch.

The role of Die Feldmarschallin will be sung by Michaela Kaune for the performances of May 9, 12 and 15, 2016.

Several times a month, the Paris Opera’s Ten Months of School and Opera programme offers underprivileged children with limited access to art and culture a chance to discover the different trades and professions at the Opera. These encounters take place in the workshops or rehearsal studios. Today, it’s the turn of Étoile dancer Dorothée Gilbert to show off her talents!
Due to illness, Irina Lungu and Franco Vassallo, have had to cancel their participation in the performance of Rigoletto on May 7, 2016.
The role of Gilda will be performed by Olga Peretyatko and the title role by Ludovic Tézier.
