Synopsis
YANA is a journey into the heart of Guyana, a land of many cultures, traditions and nature. Combining breaking and traditional dances from the Bushinengue, Creole, Amerindian, Haitian and Brazilian communities that inhabit this territory, the performance pays tribute to the richness and vital force of its inhabitants.
Created by Samuel Fania and Amine Boussa for the Académie de l'Opéra national de Paris, YANA is performed by young dancers from the Compagnie Jeunes Sans Limites, a partner in the L'Opéra en Guyane program in Saint-Laurent du Maroni.
With SVEN, Héloïse Jocqueviel, a former dancer with the Paris Opera Ballet, takes on the character of the white swan, an emblematic figure in classical ballet, and rewrites this metamorphosis to question the social and aesthetic norms that shape our vision of women and nature.
