Awa Joannais is a Franco-Malian dancer. Trained at the Paris Opera Ballet School from the age of 9 to 16, she joined the company’s corps de ballet in 2014. She spent nearly nine years there, performing in major classical ballets while gradually expanding into increasingly contemporary repertoire.
She has danced in works by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, Pina Bausch, Hofesh Shechter, Carolyn Carlson, Bobbi Jene Smith, and Or Schraiber, among others.
In 2023, she left the Paris National Opera Ballet to become an independent artist. She has performed in De Fugues… en suites… by Salia Sanou and collaborated with Gerard & Kelly on various creations.
In parallel, she develops her own projects while continuing to refine her teaching and choreography assistance skills.
