Synopsis
The Palais Garnier has always maintained close ties with political power. First a showcase for the imperial regime, then integrated into the republican system, it has been at the heart of French political history and is a privileged venue for official meetings with foreign heads of state.
In the 20th century, it also bore the mark of the Occupation. This talk offers a chance to revisit these key moments in the history of the Palais and to focus on the construction of the Opéra Bastille in 1989.
