Isabelle Stibbe Dramatist

Biography

Born in Paris, Isabelle Stibbe holds a doctorate in law from the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas as well as the French Bar qualification. Passionate about theatre and opera, she began her career in cultural communications at the Comédie-Française, then at the Grand Palais where she was in charge of publications. From 2011 to 2016, she served as General Secretary of the Athénée Théâtre Louis-Jouvet. At the same time, she taught lecture series on theatre professions and institutions at the University of Paris III Sorbonne-Nouvelle.

Reflecting on how to engage theatre audiences, she later founded her own communications agency, Balsamo, which provides editorial solutions in the cultural sector for institutions such as Insula Orchestra, the Accentus choir, the Opéra de Rouen Normandie, the Théâtre de Suresnes, and Théâtre 71 – Scène nationale Malakoff.

As an opera and theatre critic, she has written for the website Anaclase and the newspaper La Terrasse.

She is also a novelist and published in 2013 Bérénice 34-44 (Serge Safran Editions), which received nine literary awards including the Prix Simone Veil, followed by Les Maîtres du printemps (Serge Safran Editions), Le Roman ivre (Robert Laffont), and A Spell on You (Cherche-Midi Editions).

Since 2021, she has been dramaturg at the Paris Opera within the Communications Department. She co-curated the exhibition Bijoux de scène de l’Opéra de Paris at the Palais Garnier in 2025 and co-authored the catalogue published by Gourcuff Editions.
