Fin de partie

As Clov points out from his appearance, the performance is over before it has even begun. At the age of 90, György Kurtág composes his first opera and seizes upon Samuel Beckett’s 1957 play of the same name for a subject.

Mats Ek

Despite the fact Mats Ek announced a few years ago that he no longer wanted to choreograph, he returned to the stage in 2019 to offer two new works to the dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet.

Elektra

“Over the course of a slow twilight”. Such was the stage direction which Hofmannsthal gave for a performance of Elektra, the one-act tragedy of unheard-of darkness and violence by Richard Strauss.

Parsifal

As of the prelude of Parsifal something magical takes place: a musical score with a sacred dimension, infused with esotericism and Buddhist and Christian references to convey a universal message, albeit a cryptic one.

Le Barbier de Séville

Drawing inspiration from Beaumarchais’ comedy, Rossini retains all its original spirit to create this lively opera buffa. A native of Venice, cradle of the commedia dell’arte, director Damiano Michieletto is acutely sensitive to the burlesque inherent in Rossini’s music.
