Dmitry Matvienko Chef d'orchestre

Biographie

Dmitry Matvienko studied choral conducting at the St. Petersburg Conservatory and is a member of the MusicAeterna choir of the Perm Opera-Ballet, under the artistic direction of Teodor Currentzis. He continued his conducting studies at the Moscow Conservatory and in 2017 joined the Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra's conductor internship program, directed by Vladimir Spivakov.

There, he attends and prepares various programs for conductors such as Vladimir Jurowski, Vassili Petrenko and Michail Jurowski. Dmitry Matvienko was awarded First Prize and Audience Prize in the Malko Competition for Young Conductors in 2021. The 2024-2025 season marks the start of his tenure as Principal Conductor of the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra.

In recent seasons, Dmitry Matvienko has conducted such orchestras as the Orchestra of the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, the Orchestra of the Teatro Regio in Turin, the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Orquestra Gulbenkian, Vienna Tonkünstler Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Florence Mai Musicale Orchestra, Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne and Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra.

He has conducted De la maison des morts at the Rome Opera and Les Fiançailles au couvent at the Theater an der Wien. In the 2025-2026 season, he conducts the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the Malmö Opera Orchestra, among others.
