Synopsis
The Palais Garnier was the subject of one of the first architectural competitions in French history. Its construction was fraught with difficulties and incurred exorbitant costs. It only opened after a war, the end of a regime, and a world's fair.
This first talk explores the motivations behind the construction of the Palais Garnier, as well as its spectacular architectural and artistic project. A true source of inspiration, the Palais Garnier continues to fascinate artists today.
