Jean-Claude Yon

Biography
Jean-Claude Yon is Director of Studies at the École Pratique des Hautes Études (Université Paris Sciences & Lettres), where he holds the Chair in the History of Performance in the Contemporary Era. A historian, he is a specialist of the Second Empire and of nineteenth-century cultural history.
Among his publications are biographies of Scribe and Offenbach, Le Second Empire. Politique, sociétés, cultures, Une histoire du théâtre à Paris de la Révolution à la Grande Guerre, as well as critical editions of plays by Feydeau and Labiche.
