Ludmila Pagliero, Hugo Marchand and Crystal Pite win awards in Moscow

The results of the prestigious 2017 Benois de la Danse Awards were announced in Moscow on May 30, on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre.
The Étoile dancers Ludmila Pagliero and Hugo Marchand were both honoured in the categories of Best Female and Best Male dancer.
Ludmila Pagliero performed Jérôme Robbins’ Other Dances alongside Josua Hoffalt and Hugo Marchand danced the role OF Roméo alongside Léonore Baulac in Rudolf Nureyev’s Romeo and Juliet.
In the Best Choreographer category, Crystal Pite received an award for The Seasons’ Canon, a work created for the Paris Opera Ballet in September 2017.

The Benois de la Danse Prize was established in Moscow in 1991 by the International Union of Choreographers. It bears the name of the Russian painter and set designer Alexandre Benois (1870-1960). The Prize earned the patronage of UNESCO in the autumn of 1992 and the European Parliament in 2009. The international jury for the Benois de la Danse is made up of eight renowned choreographers and dancers and is presided over by the choreographer Yuri Grigorovitch.
