Biography
Member of the Paris Opera’s Young Artists Ensemble
American-Norwegian tenor Bergsvein Toverud holds a Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music and a bachelor’s degree from Furman University. He was a finalist in the 2021 Friends of Eastman Opera Aria Competition and received the Cercle Carpeaux’s Lyric Prize in 2026.
He has performed the role of Roméo in Roméo et Juliette at Central City Opera. As part of Palm Beach Opera’s Bailey Apprentice Artist Program, he has taken part in numerous concerts. During his time at the Paris Opera Academy, where he was a member from 2024 to 2026, he performed roles including Gernando in L’isola disabitata and Belfiore in La finta giardiniera. He joins the Paris Opera’s Young Artists Ensemble for the 2026–2027 season.
