Martine à l’Opéra de Paris

About Martine

In 1954, the character of Martine was created, illustrated by Marcel Marlier from stories written by Gilbert Delahaye. Their close creative partnership lasted for more than forty years, until Gilbert Delahaye’s death in 1997. Together, they produced a timeless body of work that introduced generations of young girls to the joy of reading.

Marcel Marlier, with story contributions from his son Jean-Louis Marlier, continued the series until 2010, creating a body of work unmatched in the history of children’s literature.

Since 2021, Rosalind Elland-Goldsmith has been the author of the new Martine books.
