These terms and conditions apply to the sale and use of both subscription tickets and non-subscription performance tickets as well as house programme vouchers for the 2024/2025 season purchased from the Paris Opera. The Paris Opera reserves the right to make any changes to these conditions, particularly in the event of modifications to statutory regulations. Gift vouchers, Season pass, Young adults pass, Family card and special offers are subject to specific conditions which can be consulted on operadeparis.fr and at the Palais Garnier and Opéra Bastille box-offices. Premium subscriptions (Abonnement Premium) and premium tickets are subject to specific conditions which may be consulted on arop.operadeparis.fr.
For groups and companies, specific terms and conditions are available from the Group Spectator Service (Service Spectateurs Groupes). Ticket orders (for 10 seats or more per performance) and requests for group subscription tickets should be sent to groupes@operadeparis.fr.
Companies wishing to purchase tickets for public relations purposes must contact Arop.
The use of data collected at the time of any purchase is carried out in accordance with the rules for the protection of personal data as described in the confidentiality policy accessible in the Privacy Policy section of the operadeparis.fr website.
Subscription orders placed by individuals, up to a limit of 9 seats per performance, will be processed subject to seat availability and, where applicable, within the limits of the quotas allocated to an offer, a package, or a series of subscriptions.
Subscription tickets can be purchased from 8 April 2024 (from 23 March for subscription ticket holders for the 2023/2024 season) until the final opening of individual bookings on 19 November 2024, subject to availability:
The price reductions and offers granted in certain subscription packages are specific to each one, limited to a quota of seats on a selection of dates and categories, or linked to a minimum number of performances purchased.
Apart from the special conditions relating to subscription tickets, single tickets for performances may be purchased from the booking opening date indicated in the booking opening calendar and on each production page on the website. The opening dates of sales may be modified by the Paris Opera without notice. The Paris Opera cannot guarantee seat availability of all performances, dates or categories through its various third party authorised sales partners. Sales may be limited, at the discretion of the Paris Opera, in terms of the number of tickets per performance or production, per person and/or per category. The sale of 6th category seats at the Palais Garnier (no visibility) is limited to two seats per person at the box-office.
Previews for young adults are reserved for spectators under 28 years of age (born after 1 January 1996) and sales are limited to two tickets per person per performance.
With the exception of 6th category seats at the Palais Garnier (no visibility), which can only be purchased at the Palais Garnier box office on the day of the performance, bookings can be made:
From 30 minutes before the start of the performance, any remaining seats are offered at reduced rates, on presentation of proof of age, to young people under 28 years of age (born after 1 January 1996), unemployed persons or persons on minimum social benefits and persons over 65 years of age. Tickets are sold in the theatre where the performance is taking place and are limited to one ticket per person at the box-office. Holders of a Young adults Pass are entitled to jump the queue for last-minute tickets at reduced prices. In all cases, priority is given to people wishing to buy fully-priced tickets.
The Paris Opera offers cancellation insurance, which must be taken out at the same time as the subscriptions or the purchase of tickets for the performances covered by the insurance. This insurance can be taken out on operadeparis.fr, by post, by telephone or at the box-offices.
If the policy is taken out at a box-office, the general terms and conditions of sale will be given to you in person. A 30-day retraction period applies except in the case of purchase at a box-office. Cancellation insurance is linked to one or more tickets and applies to the entire order. Details of the cancellation insurance conditions are available on operadeparis.fr and at the box-office.
In accordance with article L 221-28 of the French Consumer Code, the right of withdrawal does not apply to the remote purchase of tickets for performances.
The Paris Opera reserves the right to modify the categories of seats and the pricing of performances at any time. However, these changes will have no effect on the price of orders that have already been paid for.
Any method of payment not provided for in these general conditions of sale will be refused by the Paris Opera. Corporate payments are not accepted.
Depending on the subscription package, payment may be made in full or in instalments.
Payment may be made in full:
Payment in instalments (for 4 performances or more, by post or at the box-office only) must be made by monthly direct debit (only for countries belonging to the SEPA zone) and will be subject to a €10 surcharge per subscription for administration costs (excluding postage costs). Direct debit requests must be made no later than 30 June 2024. A schedule of monthly direct debits will then be drawn up and communicated to the client. In the event of a change in bank details, the direct debit documents (signed mandate and bank coordinates) must reach the Paris Opera three weeks before the due date.
For subscription orders received by post, seats in categories immediately above or below may be offered if there are no more seats available in the category initially requested by the client, subject to the client's prior agreement.
For payments made by credit card or direct debit, the amount to be debited will automatically be modified.
The purchase of one or more non-subscription tickets is paid for in a one-off payment:
The issue of certain preferential tickets (for disabled people, last-minute reduced fares) is subject to the presentation of the relevant documentation showing proof of eligibility, which may be requested at any time.
On receipt of tickets, spectators are invited to check that they correspond to their order.
Depending on the format chosen, tickets can be:

Service Spectateurs - Opéra national de Paris - 120 rue de Lyon - 75576 Paris cedex 12.
Any ticket that has not been delivered due to a change of address that has not been notified will not give rise to any reimbursement of the sums paid. In the event of non-receipt of the ticket(s) three working days before the date of the performance, the spectator must contact the Paris Opera by email at resa.internet@operadeparis.fr or by calling +33 8 92 89 90 90 from a landline (€0.35 incl. tax / min. excluding any costs depending on the operator) or from abroad on +33 1 71 25 24 23 from Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. (excluding public holidays). The Paris Opera cannot be held responsible for lost, stolen or delayed tickets.
No duplicate card tickets will be issued, unless specifically agreed by the Paris Opera, and only in the case of seats with a client name and number associated with them. In this case, duplicates must be collected 1 hour before the performance from the reception desk located at the entrance to the theatres. Requests for duplicates must be made no later than 3 working days before the performance by email to resa.internet@operadeparis.fr or by calling +33 8 92 89 90 90 (€0.35 incl. tax / min, from a landline excluding any costs depending on the operator) or from abroad on +33 1 71 25 24 23 from Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. (excluding public holidays). Issuing a duplicate invalidates and replaces the original ticket.
The Paris Opera reserves the right to modify performances and in particular to offer a concert version if all the conditions are not met to present the performance as planned. The Paris Opera also reserves the right to modify the cast. In the event of cancellation of a performance by the Paris Opera, the original cost of the ticket purchased by the client from the Opera will be reimbursed within a maximum period of four weeks, to the exclusion of any other compensation or indemnity whatsoever.
These conditions do not apply in the event of force majeure, which expressly includes the requisition or closure of the Opera by any public authority for any reason whatsoever and national strikes. If the show is interrupted after more than half its duration, the ticket will not be refunded.
In the event of the multiple printing of e-ticket, the first ticket presented on entering the venue will invalidate any subsequent ticket(s) presented.
Tickets may not be taken back or refunded (except where cancellation insurance has been taken out and in cases covered by the said insurance) or resold (except on the ticket exchange set up by the Paris Opera, the general conditions of which are available on operadeparis.fr).
A fee-paying exchange service for another performance of the same production (€10 per ticket) is available; exchanges are handled at the box-office or by telephone, no later than 48 working hours before the performance date and subject to availability.
Subscribers can exchange their tickets free of charge for another date in the same season, subject to availability. Exchanges can be made by telephone to the Subscriber Services (Service Abonnés), no later than 48 working hours before the performance date for an exchange for another performance of the same production and up to one month before the date of the exchanged performance for an exchange for another show. In the event of an exchange for another show between one month and 48 hours before the date of the performance, a fee of €10 per seat will apply. The difference in price between the new seats chosen and the original seats will be charged to the subscriber if the new seats are more expensive. If the new seats are less expensive, a credit note for the difference will be issued by the Paris Opera.
Any holder of a ticket acquired from the Paris Opera is prohibited from using it for promotional or commercial purposes which could result in possible legal action. Unless specifically agreed by the Paris Opera, any sale, resale or exchange of tickets is strictly forbidden and may incur the penalties provided for in the French penal code (law of 27 June 1919). In this respect, the Paris Opera reserves the right to refuse access to its performances to any holder of a ticket purchased from an organisation other than the Paris Opera or from any third party duly authorised by the Paris Opera.
Any person who does not comply with instructions given by the Opera staff or who demonstrates incivility towards those present on its premises (members of staff or members of the public) will be asked to leave the theatres.
Preferential-rate tickets (subscriptions and seats reserved for young adults or particular categories of audience) must indicate the client's name. Admission to the auditorium may be refused if the corresponding documents are not presented. Entry to the theatre is only possible on presentation of a valid ticket for the performance, when checked at the ticket control. Each ticket entitles the holder to one seat only.
Children under the age of five are not admitted into the auditoriums, except for "young audience" performances specifically intended for them. Children up to the age of 14 must be seated next to an accompanying adult.
Previews for young adults are reserved for spectators under the age of 28 years of age (born after 1 January 1996). Young spectators with disabilities who need to be accompanied by a person over the age of 28 should contact the Accessibility Service (Service Accessibilité): accessibilite@operadeparis.fr or +33 1 40 01 18 50 (Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.). For safety reasons, a security check has to be carried out before entering each theatre. It is advisable to arrive no later than 45 minutes before the start of the performance, which always begins precisely at the time indicated on the ticket. The auditorium doors are closed as soon as the performance has started. Out of respect for the audience and the artists, latecomers may only be seated during the interval, if the performance includes one. For safety reasons, the main doors of the theatre will be closed 15 minutes after the start of the performance.
Proper attire is required. Luggage and travel bags, as well as motorised or non-motorised personal mobility devices (exception made for persons with reduced mobility) are not allowed in the hall or cloakrooms. Electric bicycle batteries must be placed in a fireproof cabinet before entering the hall. The full list of items prohibited in the theatres may be consulted on operadeparis.fr. It is forbidden to sell or distribute any product or article whatsoever inside the Opera Houses. It is forbidden to photograph, film or record all or part of the performance. It is forbidden to consume food or drink in the auditorium.
All audience members are required to follow instructions given by the house management staff, and to respect the seating position indicated on their ticket.
Spectators may purchase one or more vouchers to be exchanged for the house programme mentioned on the voucher. Vouchers may be purchased individually at box-offices, by telephone or on operadeparis.fr; or when taking out a subscription series on operadeparis.fr, or by mail order. In the case of a sale on-line, the sale will be effective upon receipt of the e-mail confirming that the sale has been completed.
A 14-day withdrawal period applies to remote purchases of vouchers for house programmes in accordance with article L 221-18 of the French Consumer Code.
Vouchers are issued in the same way as tickets for performances.
Vouchers are non-refundable.
The voucher entitles the holder to a single programme book of the production mentioned on the voucher. It can be presented for collection from the first performance of the production concerned, at the box-offices and shops of the two theatres. It may also be presented to the house programme vendors on the day of the performance. Exchange for the programme book is only guaranteed until the last performance of the production concerned.
Loss or theft: In the event of loss or theft of the voucher, no duplicate will be issued.
Any grievance must be made clear within 8 calendar days of the event that is the subject of the complaint and sent to the Paris Opera by email to (service.spectateurs@operadeparis.fr), by telephone (+33 1 73 60 25 25) or by post (Service spectateurs - Opéra national de Paris - 120 rue de Lyon - 75576 Paris cedex 12). For all deadlines, the postmark will be regarded as proof. In accordance with article R 152-1 of the French Consumer Code, Paris Opera clients have free recourse to a consumer mediation service if no solution is found, either on-line through the mediationconso-ame.com website, or by post to the address of the Médiation de la consommation AME: 197 boulevard Saint-Germain - 75007 Paris. Spectators benefiting from special conditions of access to the Paris Opera's performances, in application of agreements between the Paris Opera and a partner (theatre, museum, transport company, etc.), may under no circumstances invoke against the Paris Opera the failure of the said partner to fulfil its obligations. For all tickets for performances not produced by the Paris Opera, please refer to the general terms and conditions of sale of the venue or producer.
