Synopsis
In the intimate setting of the Amphithéâtre Olivier Messiaen, the musicians of the Paris Opera Orchestra welcome you for a programme of chamber music.
The term “Bohemia” originally referred to the duchy belonging to the Holy Roman Empire and then to the Habsburg Empire, corresponding to the Czech-speaking territory. With Prague still as its capital, it is now one of the regions that make up the Czech Republic.
Three successive generations are featured in this concert: Bedřich Smetana is considered the first promoter of Czech musical identity in a country that was then under Austrian rule. His influence was decisive on musicians such as Antonín Dvořák, who had Joseph Suk as a student.
