3 June 2025Tribute to Stéphanie Romberg

The Coddess Variations digital art collection, launched by the Paris Opera in October 2024, is living a second life through an art film directed by Hervé Martin Delpierre. The short film will be available from 1 July on POP and will be shown at festivals and events in Europe and around the world as part of a tour entitled ‘Under the moon’.

In October 2024, the Paris Opera launched Coddess Variations, a new collection of physical and digital art composed of 100 unique works, the fruit of an original idea by sculptor Hermine Bourdin.

For this artistic project, created in collaboration with the Paris Opera workshops, Hermine Bourdin combined sculpture, dance, code, blockchain and digital images, reinforcing the inseparable links between the real and virtual worlds. Eugénie Drion, dancer at the Paris Opera Ballet, performed a choreographic creation by Ania Catherine at the Foyer de la Danse in the Palais Garnier, inspired by the figure of a Palaeolithic goddess.

To keep the project alive outside the walls, director Hervé Martin Delpierre - best known for his documentary films Daft Punk Unchained and What the Punk! - has made an art short film about the genesis of Coddess. The film, Coddess Variations, produced by Kiritosu Studio, will be released on 1 July 2025 on POP - Paris Opera Play, the Paris Opera's streaming service. Watch the film.

In partnership with Ledger, a global company specializing in securing digital assets, the film was presented to the public for the first time on 12 June 2025 at the Villa Elisabeth in Berlin, during Berlin Blockchain Week. This inaugural screening marks the beginning of an international tour entitled ‘Under the Moon’, which will feature a series of immersive events combining visual art, cinema and convivial experiences in Europe and around the world over the coming months.

By becoming Coddess Variations' partner, Ledger is promoting this innovative project by supporting its cultural and technological dimension throughout the tour.

The project is also part of a shared commitment to reimagining the ways art is created, distributed and preserved in the digital age, leveraging blockchain innovation.

Hermine Bourdin, Sculptor of Coddess Variations

"Coddess Variations aims to link the real and virtual worlds, combining the ancient art of sculpture, the classical art of dance, the twentieth-century art of film and the twenty-first-century art of code. This collection creates a dialogue between the Goddess of ancient times, the spiritual foundation of lost civilisations, and the space-time revolution of algorithmic codes that are shaping our world today".

Ariel Wengroff, Executive Vice President Marketing & Communications at Ledger

"We are proud to collaborate with the Paris Opera on Coddess Variations, a bold meeting of tradition and technology. Since our creation, Ledger has helped secure the world's most valuable digital works, from crypto currencies to art and beyond. As the creative world embraces blockchain, we believe that cultural institutions deserve the same level of security and sovereignty as financial assets. In this new era of expression on blockchain, Ledger is here to protect what matters most."
