Appointed by Mr. Stéphane Lissner on February 4th of this year, Étoile dancer Aurélie Dupont officially takes over as the Paris Opera’s Director of Dance on Monday, August 1st, 2016. She succeeds Mr. Benjamin Millepied.

This important step in her professional life will enable the artist to pass on to dancers and audiences alike all that the Paris Opera Ballet has given her.

With the start of the 2017/2018 season Aurélie Dupont will begin adding her own personal signature as Director of Dance. She offers us an insight into how she sees this new role: “I look on my tenure from the perspective of a woman, a French dancer, and the exponent of an ambitious yet generous project. For me, it’s about finding the right balance between the company’s illustrious past and its future at the epicentre of French innovation. It will be period of constant development both in terms of the classical and the contemporary. There will be an uncompromising emphasis on excellence, to further enhance the Company’s international reputation. Of course, the dancers and the young generation, at the very heart of my project, will be its driving force.”

The Paris Opera Ballet’s 2016/2017 season will open with a special gala at the Palais Garnier on September 24, 2016. This unique evening, which will showcase the activities of the Paris Opera, will bring the students of the Ballet School and the entire Company together.
