Saioa Hernández studied with tenor Santiago Calderón, then with sopranos Montserrat Caballé (with whom she prepared her role debut as Norma, and Imogene in Il pirata ) and Renata Scotto. She is currently studying with tenor Francesco Pio Galasso.
She performs on the major international operatic stages: Teatro Real Madrid, Vienna Staatsoper, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Berlin Staatsoper, Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Sydney Opera, Munich Staatsoper…
She has won many awards in international competitions, including the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts (the highest award that an artist can receive in Spain), the Oscar della Lirica as Best Female Voice of 2016 and Best Soprano of the year 2021 (Spanish Opera National Association), as well as awards in the competitions Manuel Anselmi, Jaume Aragall and Vincenzo Bellini.
She has recorded many CDs and numerous of her performances have been broadcast on cinemas and world TV’s, such as Attila (La Scala in Milan), La Gioconda (Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona), Nabucco (Festival Verdi in Parma), La Forza del destino (Maggio Musicale Fiorentino) or Zaira (Martina Franca Festival).
Her repertoire includes a wide range of roles such as Francesca da Rimini, Madama Butterfly, Odabella, la Gioconda, Lady Macbeth, Abigaïlle (Nabucco), Norma, Imogene, Tosca, Zaira, Violetta (La Traviata), Leonora di Vargas (La Forza del destino), Leonora, Aida, la Wally, Maddalena, Amelia (Un ballo in maschera)…
