Saioa Hernández Soprano

Biography

Saioa Hernández performs on the world’s leading opera stages. In 2018, she opened the season at La Scala in Milan, singing the role of Odabella (Attila). She has received Spain’s Gold Medal of Fine Arts, the Talia 2022 Performing Arts Award in Spain, and won first prize at the Manuel Ausensi and Jaume Aragall competitions. In 2023, she was nominated for the Readers’ Award at the International Opera Awards and received the Teatro Real Artist of the Year Award.

She has made numerous recordings and performed live on television and in cinema. In 2023, she released her first solo album, produced by EuroArts (Warner): SAIOA: Il verismo d’oro, which was nominated for International Opera Awards – Best Album of the Year. Among her most frequently performed roles are Leonora (Il Trovatore), Leonora di Vargas (La Forza del Destino), Odabella, Lady Macbeth (Macbeth), Abigaille (Nabucco), Cio-Cio-San (Madame Butterfly), Giorgetta (Il Tabarro), Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana), and the title roles in Luisa Miller, Aida, Tosca, Turandot, Medea (Cherubini), Francesca da Rimini, Norma, and La Gioconda.
