Saioa Hernández performs on the major international opera stages, including La Scala in Milan, the Vienna Staatsoper, the Opéra national de Paris, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, the Royal Opera House in London, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and the Teatro Real in Madrid.
She has been awarded the Gold Medal of Fine Arts (the highest distinction an artist can receive in Spain), the Lyric Oscar for Best Female Voice in 2016 and Best Soprano of the Year 2021 (Spanish Opera Association), and prizes at the Manuel Ausensi, Jaume Aragall and Vincenzo Bellini competitions. In 2023, she was nominated for the Readers' Choice Award at the International Opera Awards and received the Teatro Real Award.
She has made numerous recordings and live performances for television and cinema, including Attila in Milan, La Gioconda in Barcelona, Nabucco in Parma, La Force du destin in Florence, Zaira in Martina Franca and Un bal masqué (CD recording). This year, she launched her first solo album published by EuroArts: “SAIOA: Il verismo d'oro”. Her roles include Violetta (La Traviata), Gilda (Rigoletto), Leonora (Le Trouvère), Lady Macbeth (Macbeth), Cio-Cio-San (Madame Butterfly), Abigaille (Nabucco), Giorgetta (Il Tabarro), Micaëla (Carmen), Mimi (La Bohème), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) and the title roles in Lucia di Lammermoor, Norma, Tosca, Turandot, Aida, Médée, La Gioconda and Luisa Miller. She recently made her debut as Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana) at La Scala, Milan. This season, she will also perform the title role in Tosca at the Opéra national de Paris.
