Biography

Marie Lambert-Le Bihan is a stage director and ligthing designer. She has recently worked on the plays Eden, Mon Amant de Saint-Jean and Molière et ses musiques, which are currently touring. 

Recent projects include Le Villi in Toulouse and La Fille du régiment in Liège (both stage and lighting design), La Casa di Bernarda Alba in Tenerife (lighting design). She also staged Leoncavallo's Zazà at Opera Holland Park, La Voix humaine at the Buxton Festival, and was the associate director on Madama Butterfly at La Monnaie in Brussels. She was playwright on The Rain, a virtual reality film by HeeWon Lee, on Entropy, a scientific conference with Dopplereffekt, and on projects by Anne-James Chaton. 

She has worked closely with Piero Faggioni and David McVicar. She staged the revivals of La Traviata (Barcelona, Madrid, Scottish Opera), La Clemenza di Tito (Toulouse, Marseille, Chicago, Barcelona), Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (Chicago, San Francisco), Carmen (Glyndebourne, Göteborg) and Andrea Chénier (Barcelona, London). She has also been an assistant director to Liliana Cavani, Alfredo Arias, Elijah Moshinsky, Micha Van Hoecke, Lee Blakeley and Chiara Muti. 

She has worked at La Scala, Milan, the Vienna Staatsoper, the Théâtre du Châtelet, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Aix-en-Provence Festival, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Ravenna Festival, as well as in Strasbourg, Lille, Tokyo, Bologna, Parma, Turin, Genoa, Montpellier, Bari, Palermo and for the Welsh National Opera. 

She translated Vent du soir in Italian and L’uomo in bivio in French. She is an active translator of exhibition catalogues, poetry reviews and opera librettos. Born in France and raised in Paris and England, she studied literature and theatre in Paris and Bologna before continuing her training at La Scala in Milan. 

Her projects include Carmen at the Chicago Opera and Dialogues des carmélites at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie.
