Gabriel Bernès Cello

Gabriel Bernès began playing the cello at the age of 6 at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Lyon where he was taught by Benoît Morel and Augustin Lebfèvre. He obtained his Diploma of Musical Studies in 2019 and entered the same year the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon where he studied with Yvan Chiffoleau, Emmanuelle Bertrand and Eric-Maria Couturier.

At the same time, Gabriel participated in several competitions: Violoncelle en Seine where he won the 4^th prize in the junior category, Proart international cello competition in Ukraine where he won the 2^nd prize in the 15-17 years old category, and finally the Tremplin d’Aulnay-sous-Bois competition.

Gabriel Bernès’ musical career has also been enriched by meetings with other teachers during masterclasses at academies, such as Denis Séverin, Young-Chang Cho and Stephan Forck.

Gabriel Bernès joined the Académie de l’Opera national de Paris in September 2023.
