Biography

Elena Suvorova studied Art, History of Art and Singing in Saint Petersburg. After being awarded a scholarship, she continued her studies with Oskar Hillebrandt in Vienna. She made her European debut with the role of Azucena in Il Trovatore at the Minsk Staatsoper, followed by Jezibaba in Rusalka and Ulrica in Un Ballo in Maschera at the Kosice Opera, Erda in Das Rheingold and Schwertleite in Die Walküre at the Lübeck Stadttheater, Erda in Siegfried at the Linz Musiktheater and Ortrud in Lohengrin at the Theater Vorpommern. She has also appeared at the Tiroler Festspiele where she sang the roles of Ortrud and Erda under the musical direction of Gustav Kuhn. She has performed the role of Renata in Prokofiev’s The Fiery Angel in a production directed by Philipp Harnoncourt at the Theater Odeon in Vienna and at the Ostrava Nationaltheater in the Czech Republic. She can be heard regularly in concert at the Konzerthaus and the Musikverein in Vienna as well as in various European cities and in Hong Kong. Her concert repertoire includes the Verdi Requiem, Mahler’s Eighth Symphony and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.

This is her Paris Opera debut.
