Audition program

Candidates must be able to present :

1) Four choral excerpts - See details below

2) Four opera arias

  • One French opera aria
  • One Italian opera aria
  • One opera aria in German
  • One opera aria in a language of the candidate's choice

NB : Of the arias proposed by the candidate, 3 must be chosen from the list attached to this announcement. Candidates are required to sing the opera arias without score.

3) Rossini's Grande Vocalise

4) A sight reading

NB : According to the jury's needs, candidates may be interrupted during their performance in each round of the competition.

Programme of the audition :

First round

  1. An aria of the candidate's choice
  2. A chorus excerpt to be sung by heart (see details below)

Second round

  1. An aria from the candidate's selection, chosen by the jury
  2. The three choral excerpts other than the compulsory one, to be sung with score
  3. Rossini's Grande Vocalise (forte and piano with organ point on the highest note), to be transposed to the ascending and descending chromatic scale.
  4. A sight reading
    NB : this compulsory sight-reading test is not eliminatory.

Third round

  1. Two or three opera arias from the candidate's selection (at the jury's discretion)
  2. Four choral excerpts (see details below)
    NB : candidates may sing the choral excerpts with score.
  3. Rossini's Grande Vocalise (forte and piano), to be transposed to the ascending and descending chromatic scale.


Scores for the choral excerpts are available on the Muvac.com website after registering for the competition.

Candidates may be required to attend an interview with the jury at each round.
