Angela Denoke Singer

Biography

Born in Stade near Hamburg, Angela Denoke made her lyrical debut in Ulm before joining the Stuttgart Opera. In 1999, she was elected “Singer of the Year” by the magazine Opernwelt. In 2007, she won the German theatre Award “Der Faust” for her performance of the title-role in Salomé

She is a regular guest of the Vienna Staatsoper (Der Rosenkavalier, Lulu, Jenůfa, Parsifal), the Berlin Staatsoper (Tannhäuser, Fidelio, The Queen of Spade, Erwartung, Tannhäuser) and the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich (Salomé, L’Affaire Makropoulos, Wozzeck). She has also been a guest on international stages such as Covent Garden in London, the New York Metropolitan Opera, the Amsterdam Nederlandse Opera, the Liceu Barcelona, the Semperoper of Dresde, the Théâtre du Châtelet, and the Salzburg Festival. 

Her Paris Opera repertoire already includes roles such as Salomé, Kátia Kabanová, Emilia Marty (L’Affaire Makropoulos), Leonore (Fidelio), Marie (Wozzeck), the Daughter (Cardillac). 

Recent performances include Judith (Bluebeard's Castle) at the New York Metropolitan Opera, Kundry (Parsifal) at the Mannheim National theater, Brangäne (Tristan und Isolde) at the Barenboim Festival in Buenos Aires, Kátia Kabanová at the Vienna Staatsoper and Goneril (Lear) at the Bayerische Staatsoper of Munich. She also performed Kátia Kabanová in 2021 at the Ulm Theatre and Salomé in 2022 at the Tiroler Landestheater of Innsbruck. She recorded, among other pieces, Die tote Stadt (Jan Latham-Koenig), The Valkyrie (Lothar Zagrosek), Kátia Kabanová (Sylvain Cambreling), Beethoven’s 9th Symphony (Mikhail Pletnev, Daniel Barenboim), Wozzeck (Ingo Metzmacher), Fidelio (Sir Simon Rattle).
