Synopsis
From love poems to sacred songs and popular melodies, this concert plunges us into the musical heritage of Al-Andalus, the territory of the Iberian Peninsula under Muslim rule between 711 and 1492.
Passed down through the centuries thanks in particular to oral tradition, this repertoire performed by Salma Sadak, an artist from the Chœur de l'Opéra national de Paris, oudist Yacir Rami, violinist Isabelle Dumont and percussionist Steven Downing bears witness to the intermingling of Jewish, Muslim and Christian cultures.
Open to families and school classes, this recital gives young spectators a chance to familiarise themselves with the voice, in the intimate setting of the Studio Bastille. Accompanied in their listening by the musicians, pupils can chat with the artists after the recital.
