Synopsis
‘I have two handicaps. I am a woman and I have black blood in my veins’.
Florence Price was the first African-American composer whose music was performed by a symphony orchestra in 1933, and she is a pioneering figure in classical music in the United States.
At the crossroads of European and Afro-American traditions, her poignant work is performed here by soprano Lisa Chaïb-Auriol, double bassist Sulivan Loiseau and pianist Yoan Héreau.
Open to families and school classes, this recital gives young spectators a chance to familiarise themselves with the voice, in the intimate setting of the Studio Bastille. Accompanied in their listening by the musicians, pupils can chat with the artists after the recital.
French mediation.
Recital naturally accessible to the blind and visually impaired.
