Nearly 4,500 costumes are made in the workshops of the Opéra Bastille and the Palais Garnier each season. The Opéra national de Paris stores around 300,000 costume items from its repertoire at the Opéra Bastille, the Palais Garnier, and the Ateliers Berthier.
The most emblematic pieces from the Opéra are preserved at the museum of the Centre national du costume de scène in Moulins.
