Yun Jung Choi Soprano

Biography

After graduating in musicology from Han Yan University and then the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan in 2002, Yun Jung Choi joined the Paris Opera’s Atelier Lyrique in 2005. In 2004, she was awarded First Prize in the “Maria Caniglia” singing competition in Sulmona.
In 2006, she received the Paris Opera’s Prix Carpeaux, and sang the roles of Costanza (L’Isola disabitata) in Caen and Rennes, Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) in Rennes, Angers and Nantes, Madama Cortese (Il viaggio a Reims) on tour in Europe, Eurydice (Orphée et Eurydice) in Düsseldorf, New York’s Lincoln Center, and the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Marchesa di Poggio (Un giorno di regno) in Montepulciano, Juliette (Roméo et Juliette) in Bucheon (South Korea), The First Nymph (Rusalka) in Nancy and at the Paris Opera, Vanessa (Vanessa) in Herblay, Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare) and Giulietta (I Capuleti e i Montecchi) at the Paris Opera, Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) at the MC93 in Bobigny, Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) in Vichy and at the Seoul Art Center and Leïla (Les Pêcheurs de Perles) at the Seoul Art Center.
She also sings regularly in concert, most notably, Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Exultate Jubilate, Eve (Haydn’s The Creation) under the baton of Christopher Hogwood, Mahler’s Symphony N°2 in Caracas, Mahler’s Symphony N°4 in Besançon, Schubert’s Mass N°5 in Orléans and Handel’s Cantatas HWV99 in Halle. She has also participated in numerous productions at the Paris Opera. 

Projects:
Soprano Solo in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony at the Seoul Art Center, Handel’s HWV105 and HWV 97 Cantatas at the Darmstadt Oper and Eurydike (W.C. Gluck’s Orpheus und Eurydike) at the Paris Opera.
