In 2010, Yu Shao performed as a soloist in La Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini and, in March 2013, understudied the role of Azor in a new production of La Dispute at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels. That same year, he gave a recital at the Marc Chagall Museum in Nice and sang in a production of Stravinsky’s Pulcinella conducted by Ludovic Morlot at the Royal Palace in Brussels. As a member of the Atelier Lyrique of the Paris Opera, he has performed the role of Nicolas in Maudits les Innocents at the Amphitheatre of the Opéra Bastille and has interpreted Pylade in Iphigenia in Tauris at the theatre in Saint-Quentin-des-Yvelines and Ferrando in Così fan tutte at the Maison des Arts in Créteil. He has also performed in a concert conducted by Jérémie Rhorer at the Palais Garnier.

He was awarded diplomas in singing, theory and chamber music from the Regional Conservatoire of Courneuve-Aubervilliers and joined the choir of Radio France.
He continued his studies with Jose Van Dam at the Queen Elizabeth Music Chapel in Belgium.
