Biography

Thomas Faulkner, born in England, is a member of the Ensemble at Oper Frankfurt, where he has been performing various roles, including Pimen (Boris Godunov), Swallow (Peter Grimes), Walton (I Puritani), John Claggart (Billy Budd) and Alidoro (La Cenerentola). Other roles of his repertoire and previously sang in Frankfurt include Zuniga (Carmen), the Second armed man (The Magic Flute), Count Lamoral (Arabella), Jago (Ernani), Hector’s Ghost, Mercury and a soldier (Les Troyens), Don Marco (Le cantatrici villane), A wigmaker (Ariadne auf Naxos), A police inspector (Der Rosenkavalier) and Portrait/Storyteller (Alexandre bis).

More recently, he sang Melisso (Alcina) at Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Zuniga at Royal Opera House Covent Garden and Munich Staatsoper, Fasolt (Das Rheingold) at the Erl Tiroler Festspiele, Theseus (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) and Osmin (Il Seraglio) at Frankfurt Opera. The 2022/23 season was marked by his role debut as Masetto (Don Giovanni) at the Royal Opera House. He also performed Osmin at Hamburg Opera, and Fritz Kothner (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Gremin (Eugene Onegin), the Priest (The Cunning Little Vixen) and Elviro (Xerxès) in Frankfurt.

On the concert platform, Thomas Faulkner has been performing as a soloist in Beethoven’s 9° Symphony, with the Dresden Philharmonic, and with the Teatro Massimo Chorus in Palermo and the Sicilian Symphonic Orchestra, Haydn’s Seasons with the Nurnberg Symphonic, Mozart’s Mass in C minor at Grands Concerts-Salle Métropole with the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, and Verdi’s Requiem with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

During the 2023/24 season, he made his house debut at Theater Basel as Fasolt and also performed Swallow at the Opéra national de Lyon.
