Tareq Nazmi Singer

Biography

Bass Tareq Nazmi gathered first stage experience at the Bavarian State Opera’s Opera Studio and later on, joined the Opera´s ensemble where he sang various roles including Masetto, Speaker, Truffaldino, Publio or Osman in Les Indes galantes.

In the 2022/23 season, Tareq Nazmi made his role debut as Gurnemanz (Parsifal) at the Grand Théâtre de Genève and his house debut at the Vienna State Opera as King Heinrich (Lohengrin). He was also heard in a concert Ring under Marek Janowski in Dresden as Hunding, returned to the Bavarian State Opera as Sarastro and performed at the Salzburg Mozart Week under Daniel Barenboim, with the Musikkollegium Winterthur under Roberto Gonzales-Monjas or the NDR Symphony Orchestra under Manfred Honeck.

Highlights of past seasons include his house debut at Lyric Opera Chicago as Sarastro, his role debut as Filippo (Don Carlo) at Theater St. Gallen, his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic under the baton of Daniel Barenboim in Verdi´s Missa da Requiem, starred in a concert tour with concerts in Lucerne, Milan, Hamburg, Athens, Vienna and Brussels under the baton of Teodor Currentzis, in Beethoven´s Missa Solemnis conducted by Kirill Petrenko in Munich, as Bottom in Britten´s A Midsummer Night´s Dream in a Damiano Michieletto production at Theater an der Wien or sang Speaker in Mozart´s Magic Flute at the Salzburg Festival with Constantinos Carydis conducting. In 2022, he returned to the Salzburg Festival - this time as Sarastro.
