Biography

Born in Brovary, Ukraine, Sofia Anisimova began studying voice at the age of 15 at the Hadiach College of Culture and Arts with Natalya Horbachyk, and then entered the I.P. Koltyarevsky National Conservatory of Kharkiv in 2015, where she received her master’s degree in voice in 2022 in the class of Oleksandra Kuzmina. After the beginning of the war in her country, she was invited to continue her studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in the class of Yann Toussaint.

With the Kharkiv Opera Studio, she performed in several productions as Cherubino in Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, Dido in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and the Mermaid in The Mermaid’s Easter by the Ukrainian composer Leontovych. In 2021, she was awarded a special prize at the Wassyl Slipak International Singing Competition by the president of the jury, Zoryana Kushpler. The same year, she won the first prize in the International Competition for Young Opera Singers of the Michael Stirchartz Foundation.

Since her arrival in France, she has given several concerts (Live Music Now, Pianos Kawai France showroom) and participated in masterclasses with Michel Plasson, Sophie Koch, Maciej Pikulski, Zoryana Kushpler and Jean-Yves Ossonce. 

Sofia Anisimova joins the Académie de l’Opéra national de Paris in September 2023. She played the roles of the Owl and a Shepherd in Richard Jones and Antony McDonald's staging of Ravel's L'Enfant et les sortilèges at the Palais Garnier, and Mrs Hildebrand in Street SceneS directed by Yshani Perinpanayagam and staged by Ted Huffman at the MC93-Maison de la Culture de Seine-Saint-Denis.
