Ukrainian mezzo-soprano Sofia Anisimova joins the Académie de l’Opéra national de Paris in September 2023. She is also a resident artist at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium.
Sofia makes her debut at the Opéra national de Paris in the role of Kate Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, directed by Robert Wilson (2024), and plays the role of Costanza in the new production of Haydn’s L’isola disabitata, directed by Julie Delille at the MC93 – Maison de la Culture de Seine-Saint-Denis (2026).
In June 2024, she performs the title character in the opera La Victoire de Karima, a new work by Edwin Baudo, at the Philharmonie de Paris. In September 2024, she presents her narrative performance L’Invitation au voyage at the Salle Cortot in Paris, inspired by her journey from Ukraine to France due to the war.
In August 2025, she interprets the role of Olga in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin at the Verbier Festival and plays Dorabella in Così fan tutte at the Castel Artès Festival.
Sofia Anisimova is the winner of the 30th Cercle Carpeaux Opera Prize and first prize at the 37th Les Nuits Lyriques de Marmande International Singing Competition. She receives support from the Orphée Musique Foundation.
A socially engaged artist, she served as a member of the Kharkiv Youth Council and has held the position of deputy head of the Department of Cultural Development since 2019.
