Simon Bång is a Swedish composer and conductor based in Stockholm whose work spans the stage and the concert hall, with a particular affinity for dance.
His ballet Le Petit Prince, commissioned by the Paris Opera Ballet School, will have its world premiere at the Palais Garnier in April 2026, choreographed by Clairemarie Osta. He previously collaborated with Osta on L’autre moitié du songe…, commissioned by the Institut français de Suède and based on poems by Alicia Gallienne, read by Guillaume Gallienne.
He has conducted ensembles including the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, Musica Vitae, DR VokalEnsemblet, Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, Gävle Symphony Orchestra, Southwest German Chamber Orchestra, KammarensembleN, New European Ensemble and Norrbotten NEO.
Together with Elias Gammelgård, he is co-composer of Vasa the Musical. A concert version was presented at Stockholm’s Royal Palace in 2024 in the presence of the King and Queen of Sweden and Sweden’s Prime Minister.
He holds a Master’s degree in orchestral conducting from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, where he studied with B. Tommy Andersson, and pursued further studies at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano with Arturo Tamayo. He also holds a soloist diploma in cello from the Malmö Academy of Music, where he studied with Mats Rondin.
