Born in Wisconsin, Scott Wilde trained at the Juilliard School in New York before making his operatic debut as the Second Soldier (Salome) at the Baltimore Opera.
His early engagements took him to the New York City Opera, Washington Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, and San Francisco Opera. He made his European debut as the Commendatore (Don Giovanni) at Dublin Opera, followed by Sarastro (The Magic Flute) in Palma de Mallorca.
During his time at the Semperoper Dresden, he expanded his repertoire with roles such as the Hermit (Der Freischütz), Truffaldino (Ariadne auf Naxos), and the King (Aida). Scott Wilde returned to San Francisco as the Speaker (The Magic Flute) and sang Abimélech (Samson et Dalila) and Hans Foltz (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg).
He created the role of Jason (Medea by Rolf Liebermann) in Bern and has performed in Toulouse, Amsterdam, Geneva, Montpellier, and Madrid. More recently, he has sung Sarastro and Arkel (Pelléas et Mélisande) at Welsh National Opera, the Bonze (Madama Butterfly) at Teatro Real Madrid, as well as roles in Wozzeck, Giulio Cesare, and Silent Night. At the Salzburg Festival, he performed the roles of Simone and Il Talpa (Il Trittico) and an old man (The Greek Passion by Martinů).
During the 2024-2025 season, he will portray, among others, Judge Turpin (Sweeney Todd) at the Komische Oper Berlin and the Chief of Police (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk) at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona.
