A graduate of the Paris Conservatoire in harp, chamber music, and the performance of early vocal music, Sandrine Piau was introduced to the public by William Christie.

In 2024, she took part in the Atys tour with Les Ambassadeurs / La Grande Écurie, reprised the role of Despina in Munich, and created the role of Mme Pflaum (La Mélancolie de la résistance by Marc-André Dalbavie) in Berlin. In 2025, she made her debut at La Scala in Milan as Despina and at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari as Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare). During the 2025–2026 season, she performs notably with Insula Orchestra and Les Arts Florissants.

Sandrine Piau was named Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2006 and voted Opera Singer of the Year at the Victoires de la Musique. In autumn 2025, she records the album “Quintette imaginaire,” devoted to Schubert, with the Psophos Quartet.
