Rosa Feola Soprano

Biography

Born in Italy, Rosa Feola studied with Mara Naddei at the Giuseppe Martucci Conservatoire and continued her training at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, where she took classes with Renata Scotto, Anna Vandi and Cesare Scarton. She came to international attention after winning multiple awards including Second Prize, The Audience Prize and the Zarzuela Prize at the Plácido Domingo World Opera Competition in 2010. This year Rosa was awarded the Premio Speciale of the Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi.

Rosa Feola is performing worldwide in institutions such as Metropolitan Opera in New York, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Lyric Opera in Chicago, Opernhaus in Zürich, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Glyndebourne Festival, Teatro Real in Madrid and Salzburg Festival, under the baton of Nicola Luisotti, Giampaolo Bisanti, Louis Langrée or Riccardo Muti, with whom she regularly works. Recent highlights include Adina (L’elisir d’amore) at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Donna Fiorilla (Il turco in Italia) at Opernhaus in Zürich, Micaëla (Carmen) and Gilda (Rigoletto) at Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich.

She made her house debut at Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in the role of Gilda. Last season, she portrayed Gilda and Countess Olga Sukharev (Fedora) at Metropolitan Opera, in New York, Norina (Don Pasquale) at Vienna Staatsoper, and made her role debut as Liu (Turandot) at Teatro alla Scala in Milan and Opernhaus in Zürich. In 2023/24, Rosa Feola is singing Juliette (Roméo et Juliette) at Washington National Opera, Liu at Teatro di San Carlo in Naples and Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Gilda at Teatro Real in Madrid and Norina at Vienna Staatsoper, and Giulietta (I Capuleti e i Montecchi) at Opéra royal de Wallonie, in Liège.
