Artist in residence at the Academy since September 2026
Polina Lebedieva is a Ukrainian conductor based in France. She is pursuing a Master’s degree in orchestral conducting at the Paris Conservatoire (Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris) in the class of Alain Altinoglu.
During the 2025/2026 season, she made her debuts with the Orchestre du Pays Basque and the Bern Symphony Orchestra. She also performed at the Les Étoiles Classiques Festival and served as assistant conductor for Madama Butterfly with the London Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the Covent Garden Opera Festival. In 2022/2023, she took part in the Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy and conducted Verdi’s Requiem with the Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra at the Teatro Alighieri.
A semi-finalist in the Mahler Competition and the Rotterdam Conducting Competition, she is also a Britten Pears Young Artist in partnership with the Royal Opera House and a two-time recipient of the Prix Fabuleuse Signature. She has collaborated with the Bern Symphony Orchestra, the Lviv Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre national de Cannes, Philzuid, the Palatine Chamber Orchestra, the Gstaad Festival Orchestra, the London City Philharmonic, the Orchestra of the Odessa National Opera, and the Ukrainian Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Polina Lebedieva joined the Academy of the Paris National Opera in September 2026. She has been appointed Assistant Conductor of the Ensemble Intercontemporain from 2026 to 2028.
