Biography

Patrick Lange performs on the leading international operatic stages: the Vienna Staatsoper, Paris Opera, Semperoper Dresden, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Sydney Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Zurich Opernhaus, Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, Korean National Opera in Seoul, and the Opéra national du Rhin. He was the principal conductor of the Komische Oper in Berlin from 2008 and the musical director of Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden from 2017 to 2022.

In Berlin, his performances of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Rusalka and Der Freischütz won him international acclaim. During his tenure in Wiesbaden, he conducted the new productions of Tannhäuser, Arabella, Un ballo in maschera, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Jenufa, Salome, Carmen, Der Rosenkavalier and The Flying Dutchman, among others. He also created an adaptation of The Magic Flute for children.

On the concert platform, he collaborated with many orchestras including the Vienna Philharmonic, the Tonkünstler Orchestra, the Hamburg and Bamberg Symphony Orchestras, the Staatskapelle Weimar, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and the BR, SWR and WDR radio symphony orchestras. He toured with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, the RSO Wien and, on several occasions, with the National Youth Orchestra of Germany, with which he has very close ties.
