Biography

Olivia Boen trained at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she was a gold medal finalist in 2021. She also trained at the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, the Verbier Festival, the Internationale Meistersinger Akademie and the Ravinia Steans Music Institute. She was awarded the London Song Festival English Melody Prize in 2019, first prize at the Musicians Club of Women Competition in 2018, a Frank Huntington Beebe Fund for Musicians Scholarship in 2018 and first prize at the Tuesday Musical Competition in 2017. In recent seasons, she has made her European debut at the Verbier Festival in the roles of the Falcon's Voice (La Femme sans ombre) and the First Lady (The Magic Flute). She has also performed such roles as the title roles in Alcina, Serse and Les Mamelles de Tirésias, and Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi).

She has given recitals at the Wigmore Hall, St Martin-in-the-Fields, the London Song Festival, Opera Holland Park, the Verbier Festival, LSO St. Luke's, the Dame Myra Hess Recital Series, the Ravinia Festival and on tour with the Oxford International Song Festival. Last season, she returned to the Hamburg Staatsoper in the roles of Musetta (La Bohème), Xenia (Boris Godounov), Ines (Le Trouvère) and Giannetta (L'Élixir d'amour). She made her debut with Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie in the title role of Paradis et la Péri and with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra as Gretel (Hänsel et Gretel) at Bridgewater Hall, and has appeared with the London Symphony Orchestra.

During the 2024-2025 season, she sang the roles of Servilla (La Clémence de Titus), Gretel, Pamina (The Magic Flute) and Sifare (Mitridate, re di Pondo) at the Hamburg Staatsoper, and Annina (La Traviata) with Le Cercle de l'Harmonie. Concert debuts with the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra.
