Originally trained at the Maîtrise of Dijon Cathedral, Marie Degodet began singing in baroque and medieval ensembles from adolescence. A graduate of the Guildhall School and the English National Opera, she was awarded a prize at the Berlin University of the Arts competition in 2014, was a finalist in the Wagnerian Voices Competition in London in 2015, and in the Maîtres du Chant Français competition in 2018.
She has performed roles such as Charlotte (Werther), Laura (La Gioconda), Mrs Grose (The Turn of the Screw), Idamante (Idomeneo), Ramiro (La finta giardiniera), and Laura (Luisa Miller) with various London companies. She has also been a cover for two of the Weird Sisters in Macbeth Underworld by Dusapin at La Monnaie in Brussels, and performed the role of Mother Marie of the Incarnation (Dialogues des Carmélites) for Midsummer Opera in London.
She joined the Chorus of the Paris Opera in 2023 and performed the title role in Carmen at the Festival de La Voix des Forges in 2024. She regularly appears in concert, performing works such as Elgar’s The Music Makers, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Mozart’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Magnificat, and Duruflé’s Requiem. During the 2025–2026 season, she will appear in recital with pianist Toms Ostrovskis in the Baltic countries.
