Maria Agresta began her career in 2007. After winning several competitions, she achieved her first major public and critical success in 2011 in I Vespri siciliani at the Teatro Regio, Turin, under Gianandrea Noseda. She was subsequently invited all over the world, singing Norma at Tel Aviv, Mimi in La Bohème at the Verona Arena, the Bavarian State Opera, Munich, the Teatro San Carlo, Naples, the Teatro Regio, Turin and the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago, Gemma di Vergy at the Teatro Donizetti, Bergamo, Elvira in Don Giovanni at La Scala, Milan, La Traviata at the Berlin State Opera, Il Trovatore and Otello at the Teatro Bellas Artes ,Valencia, under Zubin Mehta. Her much-acclaimed Mimi in La Bohème at La Scala led to a series of engagements with the Milanese opera house, where she recently sang Leonora in Oberto, Conte di San Bonifacio and in Il Trovatore. She was particularly praised for her performance in a concert version of Verdi's Giovanna d’Arco at the Musikverein, Graz. She has sung Amelia in Simon Boccanegra at Rome Opera under Riccardo Muti and at the Semperoper, Dresden, under Christian Thielemann, Amalia in I Masnadieri and Mimi at La Fenice, Venice, Verdi's Requiem at the Teatro San Carlo, Naples with Nicola Luisotti, Spontini's La Vestale at the Semperoper, Dresden, and Suor Angelica at the Liceu, Barcelona. She made her debut at Covent Garden, London in 2014 as Lucrezia Contarini in I due Foscari under Antonio Pappano.
