Biography

Marco Armiliato is a regular guest at the Metropolitan Opera New York (where he has already conducted more than 500 performances) and the Vienna Staatsoper, which recently appointed him Ehrenmitglied (honorary member). He has recorded with many music labels and won a Grammy Award for the album “Verismo” with Renée Fleming, Jonas Kaufmann and the Orchestra Sinfonica e Coro Sinfonico di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, as well as a Diapason d'Or for his album “Romantic Arias” with Jonas Kaufmann.

He made his Vienna Staatsoper debut in Andrea Chénier in 1995, and then his Metropolitan New York in La Bohème in 1998, which was the start of her career. He has since been performing regularly on the leading international opera stages, including the Teatro alla Scala Milan, the Verona Arena, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Paris Opera, Opernhaus Zürich, Salzburg Festival, the Chicago Opera, Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Bayerische Staatsoper Munich and Semperoper Dresden.

Since the beginning of her career, Marco Armiliato has been working with artists such as Mirella Freni, Renata Scotto, Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo, and more recently Anna Netrebko, Jonas Kaufmann and Angela Gheorghiu. In 2022 he was nominated music director of the 99th Opera Festival for the Verona Arena, where he conducted Carmen, Aida, La Traviata and Turandot. He returned there in 2023 to conduct Aida, Rigoletto and La Traviata.

His recent engagements include Fedora and Andrea Chénier at the Teatro alla Scala Milan, La Traviata and Fedora at the Metropolitan Opera New York, Andrea Chénier in Monte-Carlo, Macbeth in Naples and Tosca in Vienna.
