Member of the Paris Opera Academy
Originally from Brazil, Luis-Felipe Sousa holds a degree in operatic singing from the University of São Paulo and a master’s degree in musicology and performance from the State University of Campinas. A student of Angelo Fernandes, he took part in the Unicamp Opera Studio and the Campinas Contemporary Choir.
He was a member of the Minaz Opera Company in Ribeirão Preto, where he made his solo debut in 2016 as the Commendatore (Don Giovanni). Since then, he has performed roles such as Simone (Gianni Schicchi), Don Basilio (The Barber of Seville), Enrico (Il Campanello), Sam (Trouble in Tahiti), Gaudêncio (O Diletante), Seneca (The Coronation of Poppea), and Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro).
In 2020, he was awarded second prize at both the Paula Klein Prize and the Linus Lerner International Voice Competition – Brazil Edition, as well as the first male prize at the 13th Stimulus for Lyrical Singers Competition.
In Europe, Luis-Felipe Sousa has performed in Italy, Germany, Austria, and Luxembourg. He has sung the solo bass parts in Mozart’s Requiem at the Sala São Paulo and in Rossini’s Petite Messe solennelle at the Palácio das Artes.
Luis-Felipe Sousa joined the Paris Opera Academy in September 2023, where he has since performed the role of George Jones (Street Scene) at MC93 Bobigny and Enrico (L’Isola disabitata) at the Amphithéâtre Olivier Messiaen, Opéra Bastille.
