Julien Joquet began taking voice lessons as a child in Nantes. In 2005 he was awarded a prize for singing and chamber music at the Angers Conservatoire in the class of Yves Sotin. At the same time, he was also receiving training in the dramatic arts. He began his career as a freelance artist with various choruses including those of the Paris Opera, the Théâtre du Chatelet, and the Strasbourg, Tours and Rennes Operas. As a soloist he has performed in Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Schein’s Fountains of Israel, and in concerts with the Akademia Ensemble. On numerous occasions, he has sung the role of Mustafa in Rossini’s L'italiana in Algeri with the opera company InSense. He perfected his vocal technique under the supervision of Guy Flechter and he has participated in master classes with Martine Surry, Magali Dammonte, Ghyslaine Raphanel and more recently with Sergey Murzaev. He joined the Paris Opera Chorus in September 2010 and he could recently be heard in the role of Il Commendatore in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Théâtre de Saint-Maur-de-Fossés.
