Born in Timisoara, Romania, Judit Kutasi studied singing, piano and cello at the Colegiul Național de Artă Ion Vidu and continued her studies at the University of Oradea and the Gheorghe Dima Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca, where she obtained her Master's degree.
She performs regularly in major international opera houses and concert halls. She has sung at New York's Metropolitan Opera, Milan's La Scala, the Opéra national de Paris, Barcelona's Gran Teatre del Liceu, Berlin's Deutsche Oper, Hamburg's Staatsoper, Munich's Bayerische Staatsoper and the Arena di Verona. Last season, she appeared at the San Francisco Opera as Ulrica (Un bal masqué), a new production directed by Leo Muscato and conducted by Eun Sun Kim.
She also reprised the role of Amneris (Aida) at New York's Metropolitan Opera, directed by Michael Mayer, and at Berlin's Deutsche Oper, in a production by Benedikt von Peter and conducted by Paolo Arrivabeni. She made her debut at Toulouse's Théâtre du Capitole in the role of Princesse de Bouillon (Adriana Lecouvreur), conducted by Giampaolo Bisanti. Her repertoire also includes roles such as Erda (Siegfried), Ortrud (Lohengrin), Preziosilla (La Force du destin), Azucena (Le Trouvère), Laura (La Gioconda), Eboli (Don Carlos).
In the 2025-2026 season, her roles include Ortrud at the Budapest Opera, Pauline (La Dame de pique) at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie, Azucena at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and Amneris at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin.
