Jonathan Nazet began his musical studies at the École nationale de musique de Montbéliard, where he was unanimously awarded first prize for viola. At the age of sixteen, he entered Gérard Caussé's class at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, graduating four years later with unanimous first prizes in viola and chamber music (quartet formation with David Grimal, Joachim Massias and Antoine Lederlin).
He continued his studies in the “Solistklasse” at Basel's Hochschule für Musik-Akademie in Hatto Beyerle's class, while also being a member of the European Community Orchestra (ECYO) under Carlo Maria Giulini and Mstislav Rostropovitch.
Chamber music is an important part of his musical life. He has performed at numerous festivals in Europe with members of the Enesco and Via Nova quartets, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Philippe Bernold, Alexandre Brussilovsky, Renaud Capuçon, David Grimal, Catherine Michel, Xavier Philips, Guy Touvron, Laurent Verney and others. He is currently a full member of the Orchestre de l'Opéra national de Paris.
